THE ART OF GARMENT DYEING

A VISUAL INVESTIGATION ABOUT THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY PROCESS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY BROUGHT YOU IN COLLABORATION WITH LE FIX SHOP.

THE ART OF GARMENT DYEING
Different colour dyeing tests conducted on the same material
After a long period of experimentation, in the early 70s C.P. Company becomes the first company to be able to entirely dye in a single bath of colour a finished piece of clothing made up of different materials: cotton, wool, nylon, rubber, leather. Dyeing processes practiced with these criteria confer upon the garment unique nuances of colour, make it unshrinkable, but above all give it a worn-in look, in complete contrast with fashions of that period. At the time there does not exist an industrial process for dyeing finished garments.

"I did continual tests on the pigments to be used on the cottons and other materials. I left about 3.000, if not more, dyeing recipes with the company. "

Giuliano Balboni
In the early 70s C.P. Company appoints a young pharmaceutical chemistry graduate, Giuliano Balboni, director of the company's printing and dyeing laboratory. He is considered the foremost expert of the field, he knows the story of garment dyeing from its very first appearance to its global diffusion.
