Flatt Nylon
An emerized - or sanded - nylon. Emerizing is the process of passing a fabric through gigantic rollers of emery paper (emery paper is like sand paper but finer and more resilient). The resulting fabric is softer and has a matt finish, similar to any fabric that has been worn and washed many times.

Designer's comment
"The emerizing process on synthetic fibres has its roots in the very first American field jackets which used the reverse side of a sateen weave because it was less shiny and therefore less visible.”
