This season sees an exciting new addition to the C.P. Company fabric range known as Kan-D.
It’s name being an acronym for ‘Klear Achronic Nylon Dyed’ as well as a reference to the material’s similarity to the original cellophane candy wrappers of the 1950s and 60s.
Kan-D possesses this see-through property due to being a part of the monofilament nylon family, all of which are naturally transparent.
Though what’s different about this particular fabric is that one of the fibres is a flat monofilament nylon that makes it even more transparent than usual.
During construction rollers are used to flatten the fibre in a process that produces an almost mirror-like surface and adds a unique ‘shine’ effect to the finished product.
